We're seeking a seasoned Senior Underwriter to join our Commercial Lines team in Toronto or Mississauga. As a key member of our Select Broker Team, you'll be responsible for developing strong relationships with brokers, assessing complex risks, and providing innovative solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Build and maintain relationships with brokers through exceptional service, field underwriting, and industry events.
- Analyze and evaluate complex risks, recommending tailored solutions and coaching team members to enhance their technical underwriting knowledge.
- Contribute to process improvements and best practices in Commercial Lines Underwriting, ensuring efficiency and excellence.
- Lead the regional underwriting service, production, and profitability, applying effective pricing and underwriting strategies.
- Quote, negotiate, and sell moderate to complex new business, renewals, and endorsements, developing and retaining profitable business.
- Collaborate with reinsurers and co-workers to develop and maintain positive business partnerships.
- Utilize our computer system for policy inquiry, electronic filing, underwriting, and rating transactions.
- Minimum 5-7 years of Property and Casualty Commercial Lines Underwriting experience.
- Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation or actively working towards it.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to handle multiple priorities, and deadlines.
- Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to negotiate and provide tailored solutions.
- Great communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong negotiating skills and business acumen.
- Initiative and ability to work under pressure.
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office products and computer tools.
