As a Commercial Lines Underwriter, you will review and evaluate complex account applications to determine risk, coverage, and premiums. You will make informed decisions based on established policies, procedures, and standards, as well as company philosophies and authority levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote, underwrite, and quote new business, renewals, and endorsements in accordance with our underwriting philosophy, rating, loss ratio objectives, service standards, and authority levels.
- Negotiate coverage and rates, and participate in underwriting audits.
- Complete necessary documentation in support of the business you handle.
- Develop and maintain positive, constructive relationships with brokers.
- Contribute to a team-oriented approach to meeting corporate and department goals and objectives, including written premium and profitability objectives.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of Commercial Underwriting experience.
- Experience in Construction, Manufacturing, Wholesale, and/or Transportation and Logistics segments is an asset.
- Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation is an asset.
