Miller Maintenance proudly provides maintenance services on Maintenance Contracts for the Ministry of Transportation throughout Ontario. Our leadership in the Ontario road and highway maintenance industry is based on our commitment to continuous improvement through education, innovation, safety, and training.
We are seeking a skilled Winter Patroller to join our team. As a Winter Patroller, you will be an integral member of our winter maintenance team, performing road maintenance activities on provincial highways, responding to emergency situations, and assisting in implementing an emergency plan.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform road maintenance activities on provincial highways
- Respond to emergency situations such as spills and accidents during inclement weather
- Assist in implementing an emergency plan
- Provide traffic control at accident scenes as per the contract requirements
- Maintain accurate documentation such as fuel reports, safety reports, and hours of service
- Maintain and clean equipment, conducting routine maintenance and minor repairs
- Make snow and ice control decisions during winter and initiate equipment and operator call outs
- Inspect patrols and create deficient lists for the Patrol Supervisor
- Respond to public complaints and operate a variety of equipment
Requirements:
- G licence and clean driving abstract
- Experience in snow and ice control along with knowledge of OTM Book 7
- Knowledge of highway maintenance
- Willingness to work in extreme weather conditions
- Ability to work assigned shifts, and extended hours (evenings, weekends, nights, and holidays) as winter events require
- Ability to perform manual labour and lift up to 50 lbs and stand for periods of time
Preferred Qualifications:
- DZ license, and clean driving abstract
