Position Overview
The Infrastructure Maintenance Technician is accountable for the upkeep of various contracted assets, including roadways, signage, guardrails, and vegetation, in accordance with the established standards and conditions as directed by the Patrol Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
- Assume supervisory duties during the winter maintenance period.
- Assist in organizing and planning daily and weekly work activities.
- Coordinate work tasks by ensuring the availability of necessary equipment, materials, and personnel.
- Monitor work operations to ensure compliance with safety standards and policies.
- Provide mentorship and training to junior staff on safety protocols and operational procedures.
- Evaluate work completed by contractors for adherence to standards and contractual obligations, reporting deficiencies to the supervisor.
- Advise the supervisor on work performance, training needs, and traffic control measures at job sites.
Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate records of work activities, equipment usage, and material consumption.
- Assist in the development and ongoing assessment of work plans.
- Provide information for the analysis of claims from contractors or the public.
- Engage with property owners and the public to promote good relations and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Occasionally operate patrol equipment and perform labor tasks as needed.
Additional Responsibilities
- Act in the supervisor's absence.
- Compile data for highway and road inventories.
- Address and resolve public complaints effectively.
- Conduct road patrols to identify and report hazards.
- Initiate contractor call-outs and manage equipment tenders.
- Respond to emergencies such as accidents or severe weather conditions.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Contribute positively to a diverse and inclusive work environment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Understanding of maintenance operations and safety regulations.
- Familiarity with maintenance contracts and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication skills for report writing and verbal interactions.
- Ability to maintain organized and accurate records.
- Analytical skills for evaluating claims and technical data.
- Proficiency in various software applications for administrative tasks.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong safety awareness and the ability to identify hazards.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma is required.
- Preferred experience of three years in construction or maintenance roles.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record are necessary.
Work Environment
The role involves exposure to various weather conditions and physical demands typical of outdoor maintenance work.
