Infrastructure Maintenance Technician

Position Overview
The Infrastructure Maintenance Technician is accountable for the upkeep of contracted assets including roadways, signage, guardrails, and vegetation in accordance with specified standards. This role involves collaboration with the Patrol Supervisor to ensure all maintenance activities are executed efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities
- Assume the role of shift supervisor during the winter maintenance period.
- Assist in the planning and organization of daily and weekly work schedules.
- Coordinate work tasks by securing necessary equipment, materials, and labor.
- Monitor work operations to ensure compliance with safety standards and contractual obligations.
- Provide guidance and training to junior staff on safety protocols and operational procedures.
- Evaluate work performed by contractors to ensure adherence to standards and report any deficiencies.
- Advise the supervisor on performance, training needs, and traffic control planning at work sites.
Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate records related to equipment operation, maintenance hours, and material usage.
- Support the development and ongoing assessment of work plans.
- Gather information for analysis of contractor claims.
- Communicate with property owners and public entities to promote good relations and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Operate patrol equipment and perform labor tasks as needed for operational efficiency.
Additional Responsibilities
- Act in the supervisor's absence when required.
- Collect and document information for highway and road inventories.
- Address and resolve public complaints effectively.
- Conduct road patrols and report any hazards or deficiencies observed.
- Manage emergency responses related to accidents or severe weather conditions.
- Comply with all relevant legal requirements and company policies.
- Foster a diverse and inclusive work environment, free from discrimination and harassment.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma is required.
- A minimum of three years' experience in construction, road maintenance, or landscaping is preferred.
- Valid Ontario Class 'DZ' Driver's License and acceptable driving record are mandatory.
Work Environment
The role involves exposure to various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and humidity. Employees may encounter hazardous materials and must adhere to safety protocols to mitigate risks.
