The Lac La Ronge Indian Band's Operations & Maintenance Department is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Chef to lead the culinary team at our Woodland Wellness Centre in La Ronge, SK.
Job Summary:
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen, including food preparation, inventory management, and staff supervision. This is a full-time position that requires a high level of expertise, leadership skills, and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Food Service Management: Plan and implement menus that meet the dietary needs of our participants, ensuring a high level of quality and presentation.
- Staff Supervision: Supervise and train kitchen staff, including hiring, scheduling, and performance management.
- Inventory Management: Manage food supplies, kitchen equipment, and resources to ensure efficient operations and minimize waste.
- Food Safety and Sanitation: Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, adhering to strict protocols and regulations.
- Menu Planning and Development: Collaborate with the culinary team to plan and develop menus that promote healthy eating habits and traditional foods.
- Cost Control: Analyze and manage food expenses, ensuring operations stay within budget.
- Special Diets: Work closely with staff to accommodate special dietary needs, including allergies and religious requirements.
Requirements:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, with job-specific training and certifications.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience as a Head Cook or Executive Chef, with supervisory experience.
- Skills: Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Certifications: Saskatchewan Safe Food Handling Certificate, and a valid Class 5 Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education: College credits or relevant training courses in Hospitality and Food Industry.
- Language: Ability to speak and understand Cree language is an asset.
