The Lac La Ronge Indian Band's Woodland Wellness Centre seeks a Head Cook to oversee kitchen operations, supervise staff, and plan healthy menus.
The Head Cook will be responsible for:
- Ensuring efficient kitchen operations, including food preparation, supply management, and staff supervision;
- Supervising kitchen staff, including hiring, training, and scheduling;
- Collaborating with staff and participants in harvesting, planting, and growing greenhouse produce;
- Planning menus, promoting healthy eating habits, and detoxifying food to support participant wellness;
- Preparing traditional foods, wild meats, and feasts for elders and ceremonies;
- Maintaining a safe kitchen environment, adhering to food safety regulations and sanitation protocols;
- Ordering supplies, managing inventory, and allocating resources effectively;
- Tracking and managing food expenses, ensuring operations stay within budget;
- Addressing special diets and working with staff to ensure participant needs are met;
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent;
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Head Cook and in a supervisory role;
- College credits or relevant training in Hospitality and Food Industry (preferred);
- Proficiency in computer use;
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends;
- Knowledge of Cree Language (asset);
- Saskatchewan Safe Food Handling Certificate;
- Class 5 Driver License and satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check, & SGI Driver Abstract.
