The Lac La Ronge Indian Band's Woodland Wellness Centre is currently seeking qualified individuals for the position of Head Cook within the Operations & Maintenance Department.
Position Overview:
The selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations, ensuring a seamless workflow in food preparation, inventory management, and staff supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage daily kitchen operations, including food preparation and supply management, while supervising kitchen personnel.
- Provide leadership to kitchen staff through hiring, training, and scheduling to maintain uninterrupted service.
- Collaborate with team members and participants in the cultivation of greenhouse produce to supply fresh ingredients.
- Develop nutritious meal plans, promote healthy eating practices, and detoxify food to enhance the well-being of participants.
- Adhere to traditional food preparation methods, including the handling of wild meats for community feasts and ceremonies.
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards and sanitation protocols, maintaining a safe kitchen environment to reduce health risks.
- Responsible for procurement of food supplies, managing inventory levels, and optimizing resource allocation for cost efficiency.
- Employ analytical techniques to monitor food costs, ensuring operations remain within budgetary constraints.
- Work closely with staff to accommodate special dietary needs, including allergies and religious restrictions.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent vocational training.
- At least 2 years of experience in a Head Cook role with supervisory responsibilities.
- Preferred: College credits or relevant training in the Hospitality & Food sector.
- Proficient computer skills are essential.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Knowledge of the Cree Language is an asset.
- Required: Saskatchewan Safe Food Handling Certificate.
- Required: Class 5 Driver License and satisfactory completion of a Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check, along with an SGI Driver Abstract.
