Sous Chef Sous Chef

Join our culinary team at the Westin Wall Centre Vancouver Airport Hotel as a Sous Chef. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for supervising, training, and directing all culinary staff to prepare, cook, and present food according to hotel standards.

Responsibilities:
  • Train and supervise kitchen staff in the proper preparation of menu items, equipment, and safety measures.
  • Evaluate performance and provide guidance and feedback to promote quality products.
  • Inspect and select only the freshest and highest quality ingredients.
  • Monitor food receiving, storage, and rotation to comply with health department standards.
  • Observe production quantities and make corrections to meet cost and quantity schedules.
  • Maintain clean and serviceable equipment, ensuring maintenance requests are filed and submitted.
  • Perform daily cleaning and inventory of walk-in storage and refrigerators.
  • Work varying shifts due to the cyclical nature of our industry.
Requirements:
  • Red Seal Certification preferred.
  • Food Safe Certification required.
  • Completion of a recognized culinary program (Certified Cook level or higher).
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in a comparable 4 Diamond hotel or restaurant in a similar position.
  • Excellent guest service skills.
  • Ability to handle knives, pots, and other display items.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to push and pull carts weighing up to 250 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to demonstrate basic culinary techniques (cutting, cooking principles, etc.).
