Mental Health Clinician - Child and Adolescent Services Join our team as a compassionate advocate for mental health and make a difference in the lives of individuals and families affected by mental illness and substance use disorders. **About the Role** We are seeking a dedicated Mental Health Clinician to join our team in providing person-centered and recovery-oriented care to pediatric patients in the Emergency Departments. As a key member of the interprofessional care team, you will perform intake assessments, offer crisis intervention, and provide input into the care of psychiatric and concurrent disordered pediatric patients. **Responsibilities** • Screen psychiatric referrals from internal and external sources, gather background information, and determine service priorities • Provide comprehensive mental health/psycho-social assessments to identify client and family needs • Assess the need for psychiatric evaluation and make arrangements for this by utilizing a community psychiatrist • Develop treatment plans and act as case manager by liaising and consulting with community resources • Provide general and crisis counseling to patients and their families, including short-term crisis follow-up • Communicate and consult with Emergency department staff, other emergency service providers, and community service providers on patient care issues • Document assessments, care plans, observations, interventions, patient/family responses, outcomes/evaluations, and referrals according to practice standards and Fraser Health procedures **Qualifications** • Master's Degree in Social Work, Clinical Counselling, or other relevant health-related discipline • Two (2) years' recent related clinical experience in child and adolescent mental health, including assessment, individual, family, and group interventions • Eligible for registration with relevant professional association • Valid BC Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle with appropriate business insurance coverage for work-related purposes **Skills and Abilities** • Comprehensive knowledge of community response procedures, mental health assessment, general counseling principles, and intervention techniques • Knowledge of Crisis Intervention Theory and demonstrated skill in crisis intervention with children, adolescents, and families • Comprehensive knowledge of Systems Theory and ability to incorporate this into mental health assessments and treatment interventions • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in individual, family, and group interventions **About Fraser Health** Fraser Health is a leading healthcare provider in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, serving over 2 million people.
