We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Health Care Social Worker to join our team at Nova Scotia Health. As a Health Care Social Worker, you will provide a diverse range of interventions to clients and their families, enabling them to achieve their optimal level of functioning and health.
**Key Responsibilities:**
• Provide psychosocial assessments, adjustment therapy, and crisis counselling to clients and their families
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address clients' needs
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care
• Provide education and support to clients and their families on various health-related topics
• Advocate for clients' rights and interests
• Participate in program planning, consultation, and collaboration on behalf of individuals/groups within the institution and community
**Requirements:**
• Master of Social Work Degree from an accredited university
• Current registration and membership in the Nova Scotia Association of Social Workers and Canadian Association of Social Workers
• Two (2) years clinical experience as a Registered Social Worker required
• Strong counselling and communication skills
• Capacity to achieve a high degree of autonomous practice
• Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team context
• Knowledge of issues related to family violence, sexual abuse, addictions, grief and loss, end of life, disability, crisis intervention, caregiving and continuum of care and intervention skills that come from knowledge of theoretical frameworks/approaches to practice
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, while effectively planning, organizing, and supervising
• Ability to be flexible and adjust to the changing needs of the service and the program/facility
• Must be able to work alone or with team members in all service settings
• Access to reliable transportation
• Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
**Working Conditions:**
• Long Assignment Full-time Position; 75 hours bi-weekly
• Approximately 12 months
**Compensation and Benefits:**
• $49.05 Hourly
• Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
