THE OPPORTUNITY

Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours and Emerald Cruises are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager (BDM) to represent our two luxury cruise brands in Ontario. Reporting to the General Manager of Sales for Canada, this role is responsible for identifying new opportunities, and expanding the sales territory account portfolio through nurturing and managing relationships with large volume accounts, multi-location consortiums, and strategic partners. The BDM will play a pivotal role in driving brand awareness to achieve sales quotas and strategic account objectives within budget.

Please note that this is a remote position requiring a high level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability. Travel is also an essential component of the role, with up to 50% of time spent on the road within Canada, and potentially overseas.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Sales & Account Management

  • Manage agency sales performance based on established goals through on-going programs (Travel Shows, Consumer Events, Groups, Promotions, etc.) and by encouraging product knowledge and expertise through the completion of product specialist programs.
  • Develop and manage relationships with key travel agency accounts, ensuring alignment with our luxury brand standards.
  • Provide timely responses to agency calls, emails, and inquiries within 24 hours.
  • Analyze regional trends to identify business growth opportunities.
  • Actively collaborate with the General Manager of Sales to develop new strategic approaches to grow the business and increase engagement.
  • Promote participation in our group program to support affinity and speculative business, ensuring follow-ups for successful group departure sales.
  • Develop and share successful promotional practices with the broader sales team and other departments as needed.
  • Encourage agency participation in our group program to win affinity and speculative business. Provide continuous agency follow-up to ensure promotion of the group departure in order to meet the group sales goal and minimum requirements.

Event & Client Engagement

  • Serve as a compelling and engaging public speaker, confidently representing Scenic and Emerald Cruises at industry events, training sessions, and exclusive client gatherings.
  • Plan and attend educational sessions, trade shows, and consumer events in support of key accounts and Scenic/Emerald Cruises.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong existing relationships with Ontario travel agency accounts.
  • Five (5+) years of river cruise or cruise sales experience.
  • Availability to travel up to 50% of the time within Canada and overseas.
  • Valid passport and ability to travel internationally.
  • Strong diplomacy skills, including effective negotiation, conflict resolution, and relationship management.
  • Exceptional public speaking and presentation skills, with the ability to captivate audiences and convey the luxury travel experience.
  • Professionalism, organization, and a passion for high-end travel experiences.
  • Excellent budget management skills.
  • Ability to regularly lift 20lbs at client events and conferences
