As an HR Generalist, you will play a critical role in various HR functions, including administration, compliance, recruitment, onboarding, payroll, labour relations, and employee relations.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute HR programs including, but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Assist in the communication, interpretation, and upkeep of the employee handbook, employee directory, and organizational chart, and contribute to policy development.
  • Assist with the recruitment process by identifying candidates, conducting reference checks, and issuing employment contracts.
  • Perform orientations and update records of new staff.
  • Assist with budget monitoring and payroll processing.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in HR, talent management, and employment law.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Prior knowledge or experience processing payroll (Sage 50).
  • Proficient understanding of employment legislation.
  • Understanding or knowledge of unions would be considered an asset.

Education and Experience

  • College diploma or university degree in Human Resources or a related program.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive HR Generalist experience.
  • Payroll experience is required in an hourly work environment.
  • CHRP/CHRL is considered an asset.
