Reporting to the Marketing and Communications Manager, the Marketing and Communications Coordinator supports the execution and contributes to the organization’s comprehensive marketing and communications plans and strategies. This role involves creating content, managing digital and social media presence, supporting colleagues with their marketing and communication needs, and analyzing the effectiveness of campaigns to support the mission and goals of FNCIAS.

Position Description

  1. Marketing and Communications Execution
    • Execute activities in the corporate marketing and communications plan, as well as departmental marketing and communications plans.
    • Implement strategies and tactics that align with FNCIAS’s outreach goals and broader communications and engagement strategy.
  2. Content Creation and Distribution
    • Research and write copy for speeches, print, websites and social media.
    • Create engaging marketing materials, including newsletters, social media posts, posters, videos, news articles, and blog posts.
    • Lead the development of newsletters, manage contact lists, and recommend strategies to improve readability.
    • Adhere to, and update branding and language guidelines as required.
    • Create, manage, review, and track internal and external document templates and forms to ensure brand consistency.
    • Manage updates to corporate content such as FAQs, one pagers, corporate slide templates, etc.
    • Design graphics for materials and campaigns using tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and other content creation software.
  3. Inventory and Content Management
    • Inventory and manage photographs, ensuring an organized and accessible library of visual content.
    • Manage the ordering of swag and promotional materials, including ensuring correct logo utilization.
    • Order business cards and other printed materials as needed to support FNCIAS's marketing and communication efforts.
  4. Digital Marketing and Social Media Management
    • Maintain the company’s website, regularly updating content to ensure it is current, accurate, and reflective of FNCIAS’s mission and values.
    • Manage corporate social media accounts, including content creation, content schedules, and social media monitoring.
    • Develop ideas for posts and engaging content that is relevant to target audiences.
    • Lead the development of and update social content calendars.
    • Develop and implement strategies to increase engagement and reach on social media platforms, highlighting FNCIAS’s programs, services, and success stories.
  5. Support and Collaboration
    • Provide support to colleagues by fulfilling their marketing and communication needs, executing marketing and communications plans, and responding to support requests (e.g., reviewing for alignment and clarity, ensuring compliance with branding guidelines).
    • Maintain positive, collaborative relationships with colleagues across the organization.
    • Work closely with staff to ensure alignment in use of branding and language in internal and external-facing content.
    • Offer advice and guidance on best practices for branding and communications to FNCIAS colleagues.
  6. Analytics and Improvement
    • Regular review and updating of analytics metrics and dashboards.
    • Conduct market research and analyze trends to inform marketing and communications strategies to identify opportunities for growth in line with FNCIAS’s mission.
  7. Event Planning and Execution
    • Coordinate materials and promotional activities for events to ensure successful execution and impactful engagement.
    • Assist with FNCIAS events as required, ensuring alignment with marketing and communication strategies.
  8. Project Management and Process Improvement
    • Apply basic project management skills to organize, track, and complete marketing and communications projects efficiently.
    • Participate in team meetings and manage and prioritize your projects.
    • Ensure timely delivery of projects, managing resources and deadlines effectively.
    • Develop and regularly update work standards.
  1. Other Duties
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Marketing and Communications Manager to support the overall marketing and communications goals of FNCIAS.

Education and Experience

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in marketing or a related field, preferably within a First Nations context or similar community-focused organizations.

Successful candidates in this position may come from a variety of academic and/or experiential backgrounds; however, demonstrating a passion for improving housing and infrastructure outcomes on reserve lands is mandatory.

Desirable Experience and Qualities

    • Strong knowledge of digital marketing and communications strategies, with technical proficiency to execute a wide array of tactics.
    • Familiarity with industry-standard technologies, software applications, and cloud services.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, Adobe, and virtual meeting platforms.
  • Creativity:
    • Ability to develop innovative content and strategies that engage and resonate with target audiences.
  • Analytical Skills:
    • Proficiency in analyzing data and using insights to drive marketing decisions and improvements.
    • Ability to identify issues, analyze situations and problem-solve within the scope of the role.

    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
