Position Summary

A Yard Coordinator is responsible for organizing and managing the movement of materials, equipment, and resources within a logistical yard or site. They oversee inventory control, monitor safety regulations compliance, and ensure efficient operations. Duties include scheduling deliveries and pickups, maintaining records, and optimizing yard operations. This is a full-time position based out of the Black & McDonald facility in Saskatoon.

Duties & Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)
  • Yard inventory management - responsible for maintaining accurate records of all equipment and supplies in the yard.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations - ensure that all yard operations (Black & McDonald employees and third party contractors) comply with relevant regulations, such as OSHA safety standards and company safe work policies.
  • Perform equipment inspections and maintenance - responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on yard equipment, such as trailers, forklifts and loaders.
  • Coordinate and oversee the daily operations of the yard, ensuring efficient workflow and timely completion of tasks.
  • Maintain outside facilities through building inspections and maintenance, including multiple structures, parking areas, perimeter fence, security systems, lawn maintenance, dust control, snow removal, etc.
  • Perform order picking and packing duties to fulfill customer orders.
  • Maintain our tool management system and coordinate the loading and unloading of tool cribs for our site-based projects.
  • Maintain the tool crib, including coordination for the inspection and certifications of tools and equipment.
  • Maintain the shipping and receiving facility, ensuring accurate records are maintained.
  • Coordinate shipping and receiving activities, including inspecting and verifying incoming materials, completing material receiving reports, loading and unloading trucks.
  • Coordinate waste management and recycling efforts.
  • Coordinate purchase orders to facilitate logistics and yard operations.
  • Scan and log all packing slips and associated documents into company ERP system (JD Edwards).
  • Coordinate or produce Bill of Lading documents for shipments.
  • Communicate with the operations team regarding all deliveries.
  • Learn, Participate, Speak up, and Collaborate with team members to ensure a safe working environment

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid drivers license with a clean abstract
  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience in coordinating yard operations
  • Strong computer skills – Outlook, Word, Excel & JD Edward experience is an asset
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery and other equipment
  • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle (class 5) and tow trailers
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment
  • Ability to travel to suppliers and work sites across the province as required
  • Flexibility to work weekends and holidays when required
