Tournament Staff – Tabs Coordinator

Location: Saskatoon

Wage: $17.50/Hour

Number of Positions: 1

The Saskatchewan Elocution and Debate Association envisions a world where youth have the confidence and skills to engage in reasoned discourse on complex and difficult issues. We work to advance the speech arts among Saskatchewan youth by providing and developing speech and debate programs and resources. SEDA hosts competitive tournaments, helps start speech and debate clubs, provides resources to teachers and coaches, and teaches debate and speech skills to students in grades 5-12.

Employment Terms:

  1. Contract: 8 months
  2. Primarily Saturday work
  3. Estimating 8 hours of work per tournament, for 12 tournaments
  4. Possible Start Date: September 16th

Job Summary:

SEDA is looking for a responsible and organized person to help coordinate our speech and debate tournaments. Tournaments will take place both online and in-person.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Data collection and processing – receive and input debate scores using computer software (Training will be provided)
  • Manage technical issues
  • Speak with and coordinate volunteers on occasion
  • Record and report scoring discrepancies/issues
  • Travel may be required

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum grade 12 education
  • Reliable and organized
  • Integrity
  • Digital skills - comfortable with technology
  • Access to laptop/tablet and internet connection
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Access to reliable transport
  • As you will be in a position of authority over children, a successful criminal record and vulnerable sector check will be required

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 8 months

Pay: $17.50 per hour

Work Location: In person
