We are eagerly seeking Team Leaders to join our Landscape Maintenance division, responsible for the efficient delivery of all property landscape maintenance services. As a Landscape Maintenance Crew Leader, you will receive a competitive hourly wage between $24-28 per hour based on your skills and experience.

Position Overview:

The Landscape Maintenance Crew Leader position is a full-time seasonal position with typical working hours from April to November between 7am-5pm depending on the workload of the day, as well as occasional weekend hours when needed. This position offers the potential for year-round employment through our winter season if interested. This is a position that is required to drive company vehicles and equipment, therefore a full G driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract is required.

Job Duties

  1. Lead, instruct, and organize a crew of 3-4 people.
  2. Perform routine maintenance services on customer properties as per Garden Grove standards to include lawn mowing and trimming, raking, general clean up, fertilizing, garden care (weeding, edging, cultivating), plant care (pruning, trimming shrubs & trees) according to site-specific details.
  3. Sufficient knowledge of plant materials, and proficient ability to care for growing plants by pruning, weeding and moving dead and damaged leaf tissue.
  4. High level of horticultural and landscaping skill and ability combined with strong work ethic.
  5. Ensure properties are maintained to the highest level of quality while maintaining operational efficiencies to achieve.
  6. Coordinate with your Field Supervisor to manage your weekly schedule and scope of work to be completed, including organization and optimization of your team.
  7. Report and submit of all required site and equipment inspections, managing time and site details of crew services in the company software operating system (Aspire).
  8. Identify issues within the accounts that you service, recording those issues and reporting them to your Field Supervisor.
  9. Going the extra mile to provide our signature Next-Level service.
  10. Maintain safe work practices and procedures on every site.
  11. Ensure company policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to at all times, including but not limited to all health & safety requirements are followed and enforce compliance.
  12. Interacting with clients on site when needed, providing knowledge and information with exceptional customer service in a polite and courteous manner.
  13. Leading by example all company, crew, and customer initiatives as they relate to representing and leading Garden Grove in attitude, behaviour, safety, appearance (dress code), and care of company fleet and equipment.
  14. Fill out accurate and appropriate information on equipment, truck & trailer circle checks.
  15. Operation and utilization of, and proficiency with, trucks, trailers and a variety of power tools and equipment for grounds maintenance, gardening, tree, shrub, and lawn care.
  16. Oversee the quality of workmanship on site and providing leadership, development, and training to team members.
  17. Ability to maintain a highly organized work schedule, while keeping your fellow team members informed and on tasks, leading them to the finish line.
  18. Attend company tailgate and team leader meetings.

Working Conditions:

  1. Duties will primarily be outdoors and may include regular exposure to varying weather conditions i.e. wet and/or humid conditions, hot and cold temperatures, snow and ice storms.
  2. Physical demands include but may not be limited to standing, walking, sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, bending, lifting, reaching, squatting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
  3. Typical working hours from April - November are 7am - 5pm, Monday to Friday. Occasional weekend work may be required. During the Spring/Summer/Fall Season; Occasional irregular hours due to the weather and/or unexpected circumstances.

Qualifications:

  1. A valid driver’s license with clean driver’s abstract.
  2. Desire to work in horticultural/landscape industry.
  3. Seeking Horticultural / Landscape Certification an asset.
  4. Minimum 1-2 years experience in the landscape industry.
  5. Minimum 2-3 years in a comparable leadership role.
  6. Knowledge of local plant material and equipment is required.
