Overview:

Reporting to the President/CEO, our client is seeking a highly motivated and accomplished COO.

You will collaborate with the President/CEO in setting and driving organizational vision, operations strategy, and achieving organizational results. Overseeing day-to-day operations across a portfolio of companies within the building fenestration space.

Success in this position requires an understanding that collaboration is key in supporting business growth, especially in a competitive industry.

A preeminent growing brand, with a remarkable success story in stylish residential entry doors with unique technology to expand the offering in the building product space. Our client has experienced exponential growth as they continue to expand their footprint in this growth category in North America. Recent acquisitions continue to build on brand positioning and success.


Reason for Job opening:

Through growth and a new strategic direction, our client is seeking a COO to support the next phase of growth. The COO will oversee the day-to-day business, driving performance, and ensuring effective, efficient operations. This is a great opportunity for an individual who wants to be challenged in overseeing an evolving eco-system of multiple businesses and shared core services to one where we leverage synergies and resources yet remain nimble and entrepreneurial.


The ideal candidate will have an engineering background (qualifications & work experience) and have experience in the industrial manufacturing sector and/or commercial construction where they have “rolled up their sleeves” and been on the “floor” or job site.


Industries: Tooling, construction (doors) Canada and the US


Size: About 250 employees, non-unionized work environments.


What you will do:

  • Analyze operations and identify areas for process improvement
  • Implement business strategies and plans that align with short and long-term objectives
  • Lead, coach, develop, and align leaders for both organizational and personal success
  • Monitor performance, oversee reporting to CEO & owners
  • Achieve business plan goals including financial results, make recommendations or take corrective action when appropriate
  • Build and maintain professional, trusting relationships internally & externally
  • Integrate newly acquired companies into operations effectively and efficiently, drive synergies
  • Achieve business plan metrics – profitability
  • Flexibility to travel to other plants/sites, as required

  • Vice President Tooling
  • Engineering Manager
  • Directors – at all the divisions.


What you will bring:

  • Engineering or related degree preferred, MBA or advanced degree in business or management an asset
  • 10+ years’ experience in industrial manufacturing or commercial construction with a preference for the door manufacturing industry
  • Exceptional business, finance and people skills
  • Strong strategic planning and implementation skills
  • Proven experience leading people, managing budgets and resources
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Collaborative with the ability to work in a distributed, multi-location, diverse structure
