Position Overview:

Sinai Health System is in search of a distinguished leader to assume the role of Chief Medical and Academic Officer.

As a pivotal member of the Executive Leadership Team, this role reports directly to the President & Chief Executive Officer, playing a crucial part in shaping the strategic direction and operational efficiency of the organization.

The Chief Medical and Academic Officer will oversee all credentialed personnel, including Physicians, Dentists, and Midwives, ensuring compliance with the Ontario Public Hospitals Act.

This senior executive is tasked with credentialing staff and aligning their activities with the Mission, Vision, and Values of Sinai Health System, fostering a culture among medical professionals that embodies the organization's core principles.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Establishing and executing strategic priorities across the medical and academic sectors.
  • Leading the Medical Advisory Committee.
  • Formulating strategies to enhance academic initiatives and securing financial backing from external partners.
  • Collaborating with the Executive Team on operational strategies and priorities.
  • Promoting and implementing best practices to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.
  • Ensuring alignment and adherence to Sinai Health System's Professionalism Policy.
  • Providing executive oversight for policy compliance and addressing breaches in collaboration with Chiefs of Service and Human Resources.
  • Leading, coaching, and mentoring diverse teams of medical professionals.

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree with a valid license to practice in Ontario.
  • Eligibility for a senior academic appointment at the level of Associate or Full Professor at an affiliated university.
  • Extensive senior leadership experience in large, complex organizations.
  • In-depth knowledge of Ontario's healthcare landscape and experience in an academic clinical setting.
