Job Summary:

The Bilingual Spanish Operations Manager supports the Plant Manager in all aspects of Plant Operations, including Safety, Food Safety, Food Quality, Productivity, and Maintenance. This role requires close coordination with Production Scheduling, Management, and Human Resources. The Operations Manager drives Continuous Improvement by providing training, tools, data, and leadership to all Plant Departments.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety

- Ensure a safe work environment by promoting safe work behaviors and conditions

- Correct any safety deficiencies promptly

Quality (FSQA)

- Oversee the Quality Control and Sanitation Departments

- Train and manage all QC and Sanitation personnel effectively

- Drive compliance with Key Performance Indicators for QC and Sanitation departments

- Act as SQF Practitioner, maintaining SQF certification for the Compton Plant

- Serve as the primary contact for SQF Audits

- Fulfill the role of PCQI for the FDA FSMA Food Safety Plan

- Interact with Government and 3rd Party Food Safety and SQF Audit personnel

- Monitor and ensure compliance with FSQA program and procedures

- Lead Environmental Swab Testing and coordinate other required testing

- Ensure Master Sanitation schedule is followed

- Order Sanitation Supplies and chemicals as needed

- Interact with regulatory representatives, vendors, and service providers

Machines

- Drive efficiency goals and standards for the department

- Collaborate with operators and mechanics to reduce downtime

- Provide leadership for all Kitchen Employees

- Work with the Maintenance Manager to ensure the proper execution of the PM program

Materials

- Develop and implement plans to reduce product waste and maximize batch yields

- Coordinate with the Warehouse Supervisor to ensure ingredient availability for cooking

- Coordinate transfers with the Purchasing Manager

- Oversee inventory at the Compton facility

- Work on cycle counts and minimize variances in quantity and lot control

Manpower / Methods

- Provide leadership, guidance, and training to all Compton employees

- Coach personnel on performance enhancement

- Maximize productivity through efficient resource utilization

- Coordinate with the Plant Manager to ensure skilled employees are available for production lines

Major Accountabilities:

- Develop and train all Compton staff members

- Ensure employee safety and environmental conditions

- Maintain high product safety and quality

- Achieve production rates meeting or exceeding standards

- Achieve year-on-year cost improvement targets

- Improve equipment reliability with a targeted PM program

- Plan and implement maintenance and minor capital projects

- Ensure proper raw materials inventories for all production systems

- Ensure timely and accurate completion of paperwork and reports

- Involve employees in the continuous improvement process

- Maintain production areas in superior condition

- Recognize positive employee contributions and address performance issues

- Promote an atmosphere of continuous improvement within the company

4-5 years of food manufacturing experience as a Production Manager, preferably in a USDA-Inspected plant, and 1-2 years of food manufacturing experience as a QA Manager/Supervisor, preferably in a USDA-Inspected plant. The candidate should also have experience leading Continuous Improvement/LEAN initiatives and should be certified in HACCP, SQF, and PCQI. Fluency in both English and Spanish is required, and the candidate must be able to work in cold (less than 40F) and hot (up to 100F) very humid environments.

The Operations Manager is also responsible for overseeing shift production, Quality, and Sanitation in the absence of the primary manager.
