Our Emera Learning Specialist will be responsible for supporting the design, implementation, and management of the comprehensive learning programs that enhance employee skills, performance and career growth. This includes technical thought leadership, administrative support for Emera’s Learning Academy, Learning Management System (LMS) and its e-learning content, including providing superior customer support. The incumbent will be a member of Emera’s Corporate HR Shared Services team.
Reporting to the Manager, Learning & Development, the Learning Specialist will work alongside the Learning and Development team members to support multiple teams across the Emera Group of Companies.
The Learning Specialist will contribute to the success of our people by supporting quality and relevant learning initiatives that improve the employee experience along with providing the technical and digital support and expertise for learning programs and systems. Key elements of this role include:
- Act as the LMS super-user and provide advanced knowledge of cloud-based system functions and the use of data analytics to optimize the use and effectiveness of the LMS (propose improvements based on data-driven insights to enhance the learning experience, provide support and training to other users, set up and organize and assign courses, modules, and content, generate reports on course completion rates, user activity, and other metrics).
- Conduct troubleshooting and solve incoming employee queries related to LMS features and functions (solving incoming help-desk tickets from employees).
- As part of the governance structure, lead LMS System updates by consulting with Talent Management leaders on the required needs, and implement changes by coordinating with internal technical support.
- Identify and implement LMS system enhancements and process improvements; communicate the system enhancements to HRBP’s and provide any training tools, resource guides that may be required to inform/educate team members on the changes.
- Provide guidance on digital learning content design (advising subject matter experts on learning design best practices and/or creation in a learning software) and advise on what data is included in the dashboard.
- Support the program management of the Emera Leadership Academy (including consultation of program attendee selection, communications & marketing, enrollment & waitlisting, participant support, vendor relations, stakeholder management, scheduling, tracking, billing and reporting analytics).
You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of your co-workers by observing all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations. These skills will make you successful:
- Post secondary degree or diploma in Business Administration, Adult Education or a related discipline along with 3+ years of Learning and Development, business and/or adult education experience.
- Proficiency with and interested in HR systems and technology support, i.e. cloud based systems, HRIS, ERP’s.
- Previous experience using Microsoft Office applications – particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated experience with design development tools such as Articulate and VisioSkill and experience in LMS system support and administration e.g. Saba Cloud.
- Project management experience is an asset.
- Creative, resourceful, and passionate about learning and development.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, resolve issues/problems, prioritize workload, and be flexible to meet and adapt to changes in organizational priorities.
- Demonstrated experience acting as a key support resource and connecting with other functional areas of the business, building cross-functional relationships, as needed.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including the ability to respond professionally, courteously, and in a clear manner.
- Research skills and ability to identify/communicate/present trends and recommendations.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Facilitation of learning programs will be a benefit to this role.
- Previous project management experience would be an asset.
