TNDC is looking to add a results-oriented Fleet/Asset Manager to join our team. This position will lead and manage our Fleet/Assets division.

The Fleet Manager will be responsible for the strategic management of our fleet, including maintenance, compliance, safety programs, and yard operations. This position requires a detail-oriented professional who excels in operational planning, budget management, and leadership. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in fleet management and a strong commitment to safety and environmental practices.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategies for the effective management of the company's physical assets, including equipment, machinery, facilities, and infrastructure.
  • Conduct regular assessments and evaluations of assets to determine their condition, performance, and lifecycle status.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive asset registers, documenting key information such as acquisition date, depreciation, maintenance history, and current valuation.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including operations, finance, and procurement, to ensure alignment of asset management activities with business objectives.
  • Develop and implement asset maintenance programs, including preventive maintenance schedules, inspections, and repairs, to optimize asset performance and longevity.
  • Manage vendor relationships and contracts for asset maintenance, repair, and replacement services, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality service delivery.
  • Monitor regulatory compliance requirements related to asset management, ensuring adherence to relevant standards and regulations.
  • Analyze asset performance data, identify trends, and develop recommendations for process improvements and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain asset management policies, procedures, and guidelines, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on asset performance, maintenance activities, budget variance, and strategic recommendations.
  • Identify capacity constraints and propose solutions to reduce costs and maintain service.
  • Develop and manage the division's Profit/Loss (P/L), ensuring financial targets are met through cost-effective operations.
  • Provide leadership and development opportunities for direct reports by establishing performance expectations, conducting regular performance evaluations, coaching, mentoring, and providing recognition and rewards.
  • Manage yard operations, optimizing space utilization, and ensuring the secure and organized storage of equipment.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support operational needs, improve service delivery, and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Use relevant business metrics, analysis, and reports to measure, monitor, and improve performance. Identify and apply sound, fact-based criteria in setting priorities and making decisions. Look beyond symptoms to determine the root causes of problems and identify and implement applicable solutions.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, technologies, and best practices in fleet management, recommending investments in new equipment or technologies as appropriate.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in fleet management, preferably within the mining industry.
  • Diploma or equivalent in Business Administration, Engineering, finance, Project Management, or related field is an asset. Years of experience will be considered in lieu.
  • Strong financial acumen, with experience managing a P/L.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety and environmental regulations applicable to fleet and equipment operations.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to mentor and motivate a team.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of vehicle maintenance, repair, and compliance regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of asset management principles, practices, and methodologies.
  • Proven history of reducing costs and increasing productivity in fleet operations.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to use data to inform decision-making.
  • Experience with asset management software systems and tools for tracking, monitoring, and analyzing asset data.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
