Description:

Summary of Position
***Responsible for the coordination and administrative functions for a broad range of Public Works duties including CVOR compliance, legislative reporting requirements, preventative maintenance, work order management administration and various business plan projects.

Qualifications:

  • Two year college diploma in related field.

The following would be considered an asset:
Municipal Administration Diploma, Project Management Certification, System Administration.

  • Four to seven years' experience in a Public Works sector.
  • Working knowledge of proper inventory practices and ability to keep an efficient inventory system. Preference given to individuals with 2 or more years' experience in a computerized inventory control management system.
  • Certified Fuel Site Attendant as required by the TSSA
  • High level working knowledge of relevant legislation, polices and guidelines (CVOR, HOS, MMS, OHSA, EPA, HTA, etc.)
  • Proven customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent time management and organization skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently with mínimal supervision or direction.
  • Valid Class "G" driver's license and reliable vehicle for use on Corporate business.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.

Responsibilities:

  • Administers service contracts and agreements as they relate to Public Works (i.e. fuel, oil, environmental services, etc.)
  • Coordinates CVOR compliance requirements; vehicle maintenance records, vehicle service repairs, preventative maintenance, hours of service, driver qualifications records and reporting, load security and collision investigation.
  • Act as the lead contact/project coordinator for software implementation activities.
  • Designs and implements work order management software processes/apps to meet the needs of the Corporation.
  • Conducts software training.
  • Provides coordination support to various Public Works business plan projects.
  • Tracks and reports annual road salt use to the MOECC.
  • Prepares and submits reports to Federal and Provincial Ministries and other various agencies.
  • Assists in the tracking of the Town's fleet including, unit tracking/numbering, licensing, insurance, etc.
  • Records and reports daily and monthly fuel readings and enters' monthly GL entries for finance.
  • Assist with financial administration of parts and supplies purchasing and processing documentation of invoices for CVOR work orders.
  • Coordinates and administers the implementation and maintenance of Public Works records management system.
  • Receives, investigates and responds to customer complaints and takes appropriate action, initiates or recommends new or improved practices to eliminate continuing issues.
  • Participates in the development of procedures and methods for reporting, analyzing and monitoring trends, measure performance of CVOR compliance and other Public Works service level improvements.
  • Inventory control of parts and supplies.
  • Coordinates the data collection and submission of information for Public Works insurance claims.
  • Provides Public Works departmental budgeting analysis.
  • Maintains Town website and coordinates advertising for Public Works.
  • Participates in the development and review of Customer Service information materials
  • Manages streetlight program to ensure MMS compliance.
  • Liaises with consultants, professionals, agencies and other municipal staff as required.
  • Ensures the required documentation of the Transfer Station facility are completed and submitted to MOECC including daily, monthly, and yearly reports.
  • Receives and processes proceeds from scrap metal and prepares yearly totals for budgeting purposes.
  • Adheres to all policies and procedures of the Town.
  • Ensures operating procedures and workplace safety regulations are followed and comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Performs other related duties that may be assigned by the Manager of Public Works.
