The Opportunity:


Reporting to the Manager of Learning and Development, the Learning Coordinator coordinates the placement of students and learners from a variety of universities and colleges into departments throughout IWK Health for non-paid work terms and clinical placements.

This requires constant communication with all areas of the IWK as well as academic partners. The placement of learners is facilitated through the use of an online tool, HSPnet.

In addition, this role will also be involved in the coordination of learning programs, such as High School Coop, CPR, Orientation, and Take Your Child to Work Day.


Hours of Work:

Monday to Friday, 7.5-hour shifts

Your Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in program coordination and or learner placements preferably in a health care environment
  • Prior experience with the HSPnet system is considered an asset
  • Required competency in Microsoft Office Suite and navigation of Webbased technologies
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • A familiarity with or understanding of the postsecondary educational system in Nova Scotia.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain excellent relationships
  • Ability to think critically and make recommendations
  • Ability to multitask
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Energetic, responsible, and demonstrates a positive attitude
  • Ability to work successfully with little direct supervision
  • Competencies in other languages are considered an asset
