GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY


The User Experience (UX) Team Lead is accountable for ensuring design artifacts are built on time, on budget and are aligned to the company's vision.

This role liaises with all stakeholders requesting projects and materials from the UX Design team.

The UX Team Lead is accountable for maintaining the team's backlog and responsible for the delivery of the backlog items in each sprint.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Project Management Coordination and Review- Leads design teams.- Determines and records all business, design and technical requirements requiring a keen understanding of design and technical constraints.

May include Senior Dev and UX if project scope requires it.- Manages intake process and requests; prioritizes requests of the UX Design team.- Creates and maintains high level design roadmaps for stakeholders.- Translates design roadmap into product requirements including features, user stories and acceptance criteria.- Monitors and adjusts the UX Design team's workload and priorities; including removing blockers to avoid missed deadlines.- Oversees all design stages to ensure accuracy and quality.- Documents business requirements and technical requirements along with acceptance criteria and user story problems.- Maintains up to date backlogs of UX Design work so they are clearly understood by stake holders.- Coordinates and facilitates meetings for project spikes, user planning, retrospectives, and other agile ceremonies.- Assigns work to UX Designers, Front End Developers and others required for projects and features.- Liaises with stakeholders in the review and development of conceptual design to finalized working product.- Liaises with customers and stakeholders to inform the product vision, strategy, roadmap and prioritization.- Administers the prioritization model for evaluating projects and feature requests.- Ensures adherence to established guidelines, quality assurance and costs by UX Design team.- Assesses customer needs to ensure digital products are meeting their needs.- Primary contact for customer and stakeholder queries related to the product.

Planning & Research- Leads planning sessions. Determines business, design and technical requirements with the help of Senior Dev and UX roles.

- Has a keen understanding of design and technical constraints but will rely on Senior Dev and UX to provide assessment and details for future planning and large-scale projects.- Participates in planning for technical enhancements.- Creates reports of past work activities like time on bug fixes, features and tech debt.- Facilitates customer research through interviews to determine market trends and future needs.- Monitors and reports on market research trends that are of interest to the UX Design team.- Records, monitors and acts on product data insights.

Team Leadership (Senior UX Designer, UX Designer, Developers)

("Team leadership" applies only when the position has permanent accountability for the responsibilities listed below for a minimum of 3 employees.)- Monitors and oversees the assignment of work.- Delegates, reviews and ensures quality of work. Provides input or participates in performance feedback.


TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS- Knowledge of product management process and practices.- Knowledge of agile development process and ceremonies.- Skill in launching software or services in partnership with development teams.- Knowledge of design methodologies (design sprints, design thinking, user research, user testing).- Knowledge of software development and web technologies.
