What you will do:

  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with stakeholders, along with management in support of Compliance processes and practices.
  • Manage and work through hazardous material permits and licensing reports for US and Canada.
  • Regulatory communications and lobbying (negotiation skills required).
  • Response to medical and hazardous waste inquiries from business (sales, ops, business management, etc.).
  • Handling regulatory audits for US and Canada.
  • Coordinate with various regulating agencies for transportation and site permits and updates, as required, as well as follow up with reports and required regulatory agency submissions.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance and interpretation to internal procedures
  • Develop and maintain compliance policies/procedures
  • Develop, support and promote Compliance initiatives and processes for the advancement of the Department
  • Supports compliance training and communication development including content creation, audience identification, and completion tracking
  • Conducts risk assessment, auditing, monitoring and other Compliance department activities
  • Partners with business stakeholders at all levels of the organization to determine gaps or risk areas and recommends remedial action

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 7 professional years of experience working in a similar role
  • Must have strong analytical skills with ability to identify issues, trends and drive solutions for the betterment of the company
  • Must be comfortable working in an entrepreneurial spirited, fastpaced and changing workplace environment with a desire to make a strong impact on the business
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to positively influence members
  • Solid understanding and interpretation of various HAZMAT legislations, policies and procedures
  • Must have excellent initiative, be a selfstarter with a keen attention to details
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel across North America (roughly 20% of the role)
  • French speaking advantageous
