The Faculty of Health Sciences is a large, diverse, and comprehensive unit, comprised of six Schools (Nursing, Kinesiology, Health Studies, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Communication Sciences and Disorders), a large Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and four Research Centre's.
The Arthur Labatt Family School of Nursing educates nurses who are reflective practitioners and provides recognized leadership in nursing research, theory, practice, and policy advancements.
Our research programs seek to develop knowledge capable of enhancing health equity by transforming practice, services, education and policies that affect health and well-being across the lifespan in 5 overlapping areas of strength: Women's Health; Violence, Gender and Health; Digital Health; Mental Health; and Global and Indigenous Health.

About This Position
Dr. Victoria Smye (Western University Nursing) and Dr.
Maura MacPhee (UBC Nursing), co-leads of a Mitacs-funded research project are currently seeking an
Indigenous Research Intern to support the research team and the project.
Responsibilities
The Research Intern will be co-supervised by Dr. Smye and Dr. MacPhee throughout the duration of the internship.
Working with the project co-leads, partner organizations, and other members of the research team, key goals and responsibilities for the research intern include:
- Participating in research team meetings
- Providing logístical support and communication to organize research team meetings and meetings with stakeholders
- Conducting an environmental scan and review of literature
- Developing knowledge mobilization products including, but not limited to, literature reviews, reports, presentations, and manuscripts
- Participating in knowledge dissemination activities, both written and verbal
- Supporting other project-related activities as directed by the research co-supervisors
- Complete any training as required by the organization and/or research supervisors
Education
Students enrolled in a health or social science discipline (nursing, health studies, psychology, equity studies, or related discipline).
- College Degree Programs
- University Undergraduate Programs
- University Graduate Programs (Master's or Doctoral)
- Post-Doctoral Fellow or Associate
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Proficiency in both written and verbal communication, characterized by a high level of excellence. Ability to cultivate and maintain positive relationships with fellow research team members, stakeholders, and participants
- Ability to proactively plan, schedule, and facilitate research and stakeholder meetings
- Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve goals
- Intermediate ability to conduct qualitative interviews
- Strong command of project planning and coordination
