We are currently looking for a Cost Analyst to join our Power Generation Fuels Finance team in a Permanent position.

Reporting to the Manager, Fuels Acct & Reporting, you will be responsible for the accounting and administration of NS Power's fuels transactions, the associated inventory and trading software(s) and the processing of fuel payments to vendors.

They will maintain a positive relationship with our operations team and external vendors to ensure fuel transactions are captured and reported correctly.


As Cost Analyst you will be:

Responsible for reconciling purchases and fuel deliveries, ensuring generation and consumption data is properly recorded, making timely and accurate payments to vendors, and investigating any variances.

The Cost Analyst works within the Fuels-Finance group as a bridge between the Operations and Finance to ensure transactions are properly reported for inclusion within financial processes.

You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of your co-workers by observing all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.

What skills will make you successful?

You recognize yourself in most of the following competencies, and where possible possess the skills and experience listed below:

A Business Administration/Commerce degree, with 1-3 years relevant experience, ideally with an interest in pursuing their Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) designation.

Familiarity with Procurement, Accounts Payable, Billing processes, and/or Accounting and Reconciliation processes would be considered an asset.

You provide attention to detail with a high accuracy level and have the ability to complete multiple tasks in a timely manner ensuring you achieve results.

Strong data entry skills with speed and accuracy.
You are energetic, enthusiastic, a problem-solver and possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Highly organized and detail oriented, with ability to work independently under tight deadlines with mínimal supervision.
Ability to foster working relationships with internal and external customers. With your proven customer focus, you anticipate the needs of your customers and initiate accordingly.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite of software, in particular Microsoft Excel.
Previous Oracle Financial experience would be considered an asset.
