OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE
**WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING IN THE ROLE**:
- Design, configure, and manage computer networks and systems.
- Install, upgrade, and troubleshoot network equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Implement network security measures to safeguard systems and data from unauthorized access.
- Monitor network performance and identify areas for enhancement.
- Diagnose and resolve network problems promptly.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure network connectivity and availability.
- Perform routine network maintenance tasks, such as firmware upgrades and patch management.
- Conduct network capacity planning and recommend necessary upgrades or expansions.
- Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
- Provide technical support and guidance to end-users, addressing network-related inquiries.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in networking technologies.
- Research and evaluate new network products and technologies.
- Collaborate with vendors and service providers to ensure effective network implementation and support.
- Contribute to the planning and execution of network-related projects.
- Implement and manage network monitoring and management tools.
- Ensure compliance with network security policies and procedures.
- Conduct network audits and vulnerability assessments.
- Uphold and promote network standards and best practices.
- Work with IT teams to integrate network solutions with other infrastructure components.
- Participate in on-call rotations and respond to network emergencies.
**WHAT SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS YOU’LL NEED TO DO THE JOB**:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
- Industry certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), CompTIA Network+, or equivalent certifications
- 5+ years of experience in network engineering or a similar role.
- Proficiency in networking protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, etc
- Familiarity with network security principles and best practices.
- Experience with network troubleshooting and diagnostic tools
- Knowledge of network hardware including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
- Experience in Public and Health sector is a plus.
