What does the job look like:

  • Diagnose the student's learning and academic level
  • Write and prepare lesson plans ahead of your sessions
  • Find creative ways to teach and explain concepts to the students
  • Connect and build a relationship with the student to build their motivation and confidence
  • Assign homework as needed to help the students perform better
  • Submit postsession reports
  • Occasionally, we might ask for progress reports with the students

We are hiring part-time English tutors (K to 12). This position does not involve teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) but instead focuses on enhancing English proficiency for native or advanced English speakers.

Requirements:

  • Completed or currently enrolled in a postsecondary education program in British Columbia
  • Minimum 3 years of English tutoring experience in formal or informal setting
  • Good academic standing
  • Minimum 2 years of formal employment in any field. Customer service experience is a strong asset.
  • Able and willing to travel to students' homes
  • Class 5 Driver's License is an asset
  • Willing to submit a Criminal Record Check
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada
