About the Role
Douglas College is seeking a Peer Tutor to support students in developing academic success strategies. As a Peer Tutor, you will work with students to help them improve their writing, communication, and study skills.
Responsibilities
- Work with students to develop academic success strategies for writing, communication, course content, computer skills, and study skills.
- Engage in continuous professional development and training to enhance your skills and knowledge.
- Assist students with scheduling appointments, referring them to other resources, and conducting workshops.
- Participate in marketing activities and serve on internal committees as needed.
Requirements
- Have a strong academic record, with at least a "B" average in the subject content being tutored.
- Be able to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be able to take initiative and exercise critical thinking.
- Be willing to engage in training activities and follow ethical practices and internal procedures.
- Have experience working with Microsoft Office and Office365.
Eligibility Criteria
- Domestic students must be enrolled in at least one course at Douglas College throughout the work term.
- International students must be enrolled in full-time studies at Douglas College or have a valid Study Permit.
