Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Registered Nurse or a Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join the Substance Use Assessment Team at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, BC as a Clinical Resource Nurse.

Coordinate the direct care activities for patients experiencing substance use concerns.
Provide supervision, leadership, education, and guidance to designated staff to ensure high quality patient care.

Utilize specialized knowledge in harm reduction, recovery-oriented practice and trauma informed care, the Clinical Resource Nurse serves as a clinical expert and resource for interdisciplinary team members and patients.

Provide educational services including individual and group learning assessments by developing, implementing, and evaluating education programs and resources to contribute to the enhancement of patient and family centred care.

Support staff training and development and facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration.
Assist with administrative duties, staffing coordination and clinical research activities to optimize patient care resources.

Completion of applicable post basic specialty nursing certificate/program, plus three (3) years' recent, related experience in the designated clinical area including one (1) year related administrative/supervisory and one (1) year related teaching experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge of evidence informed nursing practice related to designated clinical area.
Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, supervision, education, work direction and consultation.

Demonstrated ability to communicate (orally and in writing) and deal effectively with patients and their families, coworkers, physicians, other health care staff, and staff of external agencies, either one-on-one or in groups.

Demonstrated ability to promote a supportive and creative learning environment.
Knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in patient care.
Broad knowledge of hospital policies, procedures and standards of care.

Demonstrated ability to function effectively and efficiently in emergency situations and guide others in order to deliver quality patient care.

Knowledge of the principles and practices of recovery-oriented conceptual models of mental health care including: person and family centered care, trauma-informed care, harm reduction and psychosocial rehabilitation.

Knowledge of basic research, e.g. research ethics, research question, hypothesis and qualitative and quantitative data analyses methods.
Demonstrated skill in clinical techniques and the use of applicable equipment and supplies.
Ability to operate related equipment including applicable software applications
Demonstrated skill in CPR techniques.
