Position Title
- Admission & Registration Specialist
Position Summary - Do you have experience with timetables and data analysis? Are you looking to join a team that embodies Red Deer Polytechnic values? The Enrolment Management team welcomes you as their new termcertain, fulltime Admission & Registration Specialist.
- The Admissions & Registration Specialist assists with managing the operations of the Office of the Registrar in order to provide quality client service in the area of Information, Admissions and Registration.
The incumbent serves as the primary expert in:
administering the operations of the unit by working with internal and external stakeholders; ensuring government reporting requirements are accurate and timely to meet contractual obligations; delivering training on the use of the integrated student information system (SIS) and external systems; and collaborating with the Associate Dean, the Student Information Systems Coordinator, and other internal departments, to analyze, interpret and update information for reports required by both internal and external stakeholders.
Position Responsibilities
- The Admissions & Registration Specialist supports the daytoday operations by training and scheduling staff, developing and documenting procedures, planning and distributing workload, and providing direct supervision in the absence of the Associate Registrar. In order to provide effective and efficient services it is expected that the incumbent be flexible in terms of hours of work and maintain confidentiality, diplomacy and tact regarding internal and external relations.
- Assists with scheduling, directing, advising and coordinating the day to day activities of the unit
- Participates on teams, work groups and committees in order to represent the Associate Registrar and the Registrar
- Solves operational problems, resolves disputes and makes decisions to ensure optimum service is provided
- Works collaboratively to prioritize demands and responsibilities made on unit resources
- Coordinates the development, and controls distribution of, information resources related to admission and registration
- Delivers admission and registration training (Apprenticeship, Continuing Education, Credit) to staff
- Conducts testing of new programs, software, and versions of the SIS including: Flexible Registration, ATOMS, APAS, Cognos, and Transcript Manager
Required Qualifications
- Three (3) year undergraduate degree, three (3) years of University or equivalency in Business or Office administration or Computer Information Systems
- Three (3) five (5) years directly related experience
- Knowledge and understanding of integrated information systems, with preference to student information systems including external systems such as ATOMS and APAS
- Proficiency in MS office and reporting software
- Experience analyzing and interpreting statistical information

- Previous postsecondary experience
- Experience supervising staff
