About the Role

The Licensed Practical Nurse - Resident Care Specialist is a key member of the Bethany Care Society team, responsible for providing exceptional care and support to residents, their families, and volunteers. This role requires a passion for delivering high-quality care, promoting resident independence, and maintaining dignity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Resident-Centered Care: Provide outstanding care and support to residents, ensuring their needs are met and their dignity is maintained.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Accurately and comprehensively document resident care assessments, interventions, and outcomes, in accordance with Bethany Care Society policies and procedures.
  • Safety and Risk Management: Contribute to a safe environment for residents, staff, and self by adhering to safety guidelines and practices.
  • Pro-Active Learning: Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing learning and professional development, attending education opportunities and sharing knowledge with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Team Collaboration: Work effectively with the interdisciplinary team to achieve resident-centered care, promoting constructive relationships and a positive work environment.
  • Leadership and Supervision: Provide direction and supervision to Health Care Aides, assuming the 'In Charge' role as needed.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a recognized Licensed Practical Nursing program
  • Previous LPN experience is preferred
  • Active Registration and good standing with CLPNA
  • Able to work effectively in a physically and mentally demanding environment
  • Demonstrates ability to understand, speak, read, and write effectively in English
  • Excellent observation, communication, and critical thinking skills
  • Current CPR certification
  • Dementia Care Certificate and experience preferred
  • Knowledge of RAI/MDS 2.0 tool, computer skills, and electronic documentation is preferred
