About the Role
The Licensed Practical Nurse - Resident Care Specialist is a key member of the Bethany Care Society team, responsible for providing exceptional care and support to residents, their families, and volunteers. This role requires a passion for delivering high-quality care, promoting resident independence, and maintaining dignity.
Key Responsibilities
- Resident-Centered Care: Provide outstanding care and support to residents, ensuring their needs are met and their dignity is maintained.
- Documentation and Reporting: Accurately and comprehensively document resident care assessments, interventions, and outcomes, in accordance with Bethany Care Society policies and procedures.
- Safety and Risk Management: Contribute to a safe environment for residents, staff, and self by adhering to safety guidelines and practices.
- Pro-Active Learning: Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing learning and professional development, attending education opportunities and sharing knowledge with the interdisciplinary team.
- Team Collaboration: Work effectively with the interdisciplinary team to achieve resident-centered care, promoting constructive relationships and a positive work environment.
- Leadership and Supervision: Provide direction and supervision to Health Care Aides, assuming the 'In Charge' role as needed.
Requirements
- Graduate of a recognized Licensed Practical Nursing program
- Previous LPN experience is preferred
- Active Registration and good standing with CLPNA
- Able to work effectively in a physically and mentally demanding environment
- Demonstrates ability to understand, speak, read, and write effectively in English
- Excellent observation, communication, and critical thinking skills
- Current CPR certification
- Dementia Care Certificate and experience preferred
- Knowledge of RAI/MDS 2.0 tool, computer skills, and electronic documentation is preferred
