SUMMARY OF JOB FUNCTIONS:


This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional or someone working towards their CPA designation that is positive, driven and willing to take on projects to completion.

The Assistant Controller will work alongside the existing Financial Controller and Chief Financial Officer. This position will report to the Financial Controller.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
  • Preparation of annual audit and tax working schedules and reconciliations
  • Preparation of monthly general ledger account and bank reconciliations
  • Preparation and processing of monthly journal entries
  • Assist in the completion of various sales tax remittances, other statutory reporting and compliance requirements
  • Assist in the planning, development and implementation of process improvements, along with documenting internal accounting controls and procedures
  • Managing and coordinating ad hoc projects as required
  • Keep up to date on Canadian IFRS and US GAAP reporting requirements
  • Assist the Finance team with other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • CPA or nearing completion of CPA would be considered an asset
  • Minimum 4 years of accounting experience in a diverse financial environment
  • Have strong financial and management reporting skills, proven analytical skills and ability to collaborate with other team members and departments
  • Business or Accounting education preferred
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and effectively deal with multiple priorities
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Dynamics 365, and related accounting business systems
