**Reporting to the Controller, the Assistant Controller will play a vital role in managing our financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all accounting processes.**:
**What you will be doing**:

- Organize and assess financial statements, reports, and forecasts for management review, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
- Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes, reconciling accounts and resolving discrepancies as needed.
- Evaluate accounting issues and prepare non-recurring journal entries.
- Gather and explore data for key performance indicators and risk metrics, providing valuable insights.
- Collaborate on budget preparation, forecasting, risk assessment, compliance reports (such as GST, P&C) as well as fulfilling ad hoc reporting needs.
- Create Financial Discussion and Analysis reporting for presentation to Senior Management and the Board.
- Establish and document accounting controls through the development of policies and procedures, ensuring transparency and efficiency.
- Uphold compliance with accounting standards and regulations, safeguarding integrity and reliability.
- Influence and support various special projects as needed, leveraging expertise and teamwork to achieve targets.

**What you bring to the team**:

- Completion of an accounting degree or diploma, or equivalent experience of five (5) years in progressive accounting roles.
- Strong preference for CPA designation. Familiarity with the insurance industry would be advantageous.
- Proficient computer skills, including experience with MS Office Suite (especially Excel), databases and accounting software.
- Sage experience is considered an asset.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organization skills, accuracy, and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, coupled with a proactive approach to listening.
- Ability to multi-task, establish priorities and manage time effectively.
- Proficient in rational thinking and problem-solving, with the capacity to analyze intricate information and make well-founded verdicts.
