National Workers' Compensation Services:


By their nature, workers' compensation claims often have complicating factors that require further investigation or represent significant legal, financial, and health and safety implications.


Our team of preventionists, case managers, appeal specialists, paralegals, lawyers, actuaries, and financial experts provide proactive, strategic guidance in all areas of employee health, safety and wellbeing to help our clients achieve the best outcomes in mitigating risk, maximizing savings, relieving administrative burden, and empowering employees.


Responsibilities:

  • Represent our clients (employer) in all written and oral hearings related to all possible WSIB matters, such as; entitlement, wage loss, SIEF.
  • Recommend and participate in mediation when beneficial
  • Provide expert level WSIB consultation related to complex WSIB matters, policy and legislation to both internal staff of coordinators and case managers and to our clients
  • Provide stakeholder feedback to the various WCBs in response to proposed policy changes
  • Create and provide training to our clients related to various WSIB topics
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop strategies for effectively managing disputes
  • Help expand the services offered to clients by proposing solutions to improve WSIB management practices and performance (training sessions, medical assessments, prevention, legal services, outsourcing, ergonomics, etc.).
To be successful in the Appeal Specialist role, the following core qualifications and skills are required:

  • Completed post-secondary education in a related field is required
  • 5+ years of direct experience in workers' compensation appeal representation
  • Background in workers' compensation claims management
  • Paralegal license in good standing with the LSO is a requirement
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills combined with the ability to effectively manage competing priorities in a fast paced, and deadline driven environment
  • Proven problemsolving skills, and a demonstrated ability to be solutionsoriented
  • Strong analytical skills combined with the ability to synthesize detailed information
  • Ability to be team player who values collaboration, as well as work autonomously and independently as needed
  • Strong computer skills including full proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and exposure to Microsoft Teams
