The Role

Job Description - Worker's Compensation Case Manager

Reporting to the Team Manager, you are responsible for managing WSIB claims and facilitating return to work while working on-site for a client with locations in Cambridge and Woodstock. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, your responsibilities will be to maintain contact with WSIB to ensure timely and appropriate decisions are made with respect to entitlement-related matters.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Managing workplace injury claims, minimizing time-loss and claim costs through early intervention and proactive co-ordination of services
  • Ensuring regular and open lines of communication with all Stakeholders (workers, clients, partner vendors, and the provincial Boards)
  • Liaising with the provincial Workers' Compensation Boards
  • Reviewing claim files and proactively managing return to work efforts
  • Interpreting provincial workers' compensation legislation, policies, and procedures and ensuring decisions are made in accordance with such
  • Identifying appeal issues and drafting letters of objection
  • Coordinating case management activities including monitoring return to work and rehabilitation strategies

Qualifications:

  • Work experience in a workers' compensation claims management either in an in-house capacity at a private company or in a third-party consulting capacity with corresponding knowledge of workers' compensation statutes, policies and procedures,and workplace health and safety would be an asset
  • Strong level of oral and written communication skills, and ability to work within a demanding and fast paced environment
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Additional Assets:

  • Post-Secondary Education, preferably in a related field, or a human resource and/or health and safety and/or insurance certificate-designation are assets. In the absence of these qualifications, significant consideration will be given to applicants with claims management experience.
  • Paralegal license would be an asset, but is not a requirement

Relevant du gestionnaire d'indemnisation des accidents du travail, le gestionnaire des cas d'indemnisation des accidents du travail est responsable, au nom de l'employeur, de fournir une assistance aux employés qui sont en arrêt de travail ou qui risquent de l'être en raison d'un accident du travail. Le rôle consiste à évaluer les obstacles à un retour au travail réussi et rapide et à mobiliser les parties prenantes pour mettre en œuvre des stratégies visant à éliminer les obstacles identifiés et à soutenir le retour au travail ou un autre plan d'action approprié.

Principales responsabilités
  • Rencontrer les clients pour passer en revue les problèmes internes d'accidents du travail.
  • Gérer les demandes d'indemnisation pour accident du travail, minimiser les pertes de temps et les coûts des demandes d'indemnisation grâce à une intervention précoce et à une coordination proactive des services.
  • Assurer des voies de communication régulières et ouvertes avec les clients, les travailleurs accidentés et les commissions provinciales des accidents du travail.
  • Assurer la liaison avec les commissions provinciales des accidents du travail.
  • Examiner les dossiers de réclamation.
  • Interpréter les lois, les politiques et les procédures provinciales en matière d'indemnisation des accidents du travail.
  • Soumettre des rapports de blessure, déterminer les problèmes en matière d'appel, rédiger des avis d'opposition.
  • Coordonner les activités de gestion de cas, y compris l'élaboration, la mise en œuvre et le suivi des stratégies de retour au travail et de réhabilitation.
  • Faciliter les interventions de tiers (les évaluations des capacités fonctionnelles, les évaluations médicales indépendantes).

Expérience requise:

  • De deux à trois ans d'expérience de travail en gestion de demandes d'indemnisation des accidents du travail soit à la CSPAAT (ou une commission provinciale des accidents du travail similaire) ou à titre interne dans une entreprise privée avec une connaissance correspondante des lois, des politiques et des procédures liées à l'indemnisation des accidents du travail et à la santé et la sécurité au travail est un atout.
  • Bonne connaissance de Microsoft Word, Excel et Outlook.
Expérience préférée:
  • Une formation, de préférence dans un domaine connexe, ou un certificat et titre professionnel en ressources humaines, en santé et sécurité ou en assurance sont des atouts. En l'absence de ces compétences, une attention particulière sera accordée aux candidats ayant une expérience en gestion des réclamations.
  • Un permis de parajuriste est un atout.
