Overview:

Future Black Female (FBF) is dedicated to the economic security and prosperity of Black women in Ontario. We aim to create systemic change by addressing intersectional barriers to equality for diverse women, and we are looking for a passionate and skilled Community Engagement Coordinator to join our team.

Position Summary:

The Community Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with community stakeholders, implementing community-based initiatives, and supporting Black youth leadership and economic opportunities. The role involves working closely with diverse communities to influence systemic change and ensure that our projects achieve their desired impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organizing and coordinating community events, workshops, and seminars aimed at empowering and supporting Black youth.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with high schools, colleges, universities, immigrant centers, and other community organizations.
  • Establishing partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and community groups to expand the reach and impact of Future Black Female initiatives.
  • Developing and implementing outreach programs to engage with Black women in the community, including mentorship programs, networking events, and educational sessions.
  • Advocating for the needs and interests of Black women in the community through lobbying, awareness campaigns, and participation in community forums.
  • Collaborating with other community organizations and stakeholders on projects and initiatives that align with the mission and goals of Future Black Female.
  • Collecting feedback from community members and participants to assess the effectiveness of programs and identify areas for improvement.
  • Work flexibly, undertaking out-of-hours work - including mornings, weekends, and evenings as required by the service and the communities that we need to reach.
  • Deliver one-on-one as well as group-based support.

  • Strong understanding of intersectional feminism, anti-oppression, and anti-racism principles.
  • Critical thinker
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including public speaking.
  • Problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in project management and evaluation.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in social sciences, Public Policy, Women and Gender studies, Social Work, Community Development, or a related field.
  • A minimum of two years' work experience in community engagement and working with diverse populations.
