The Jordan's Principle Payments Coordinator will assist with the financial payments and accounting requirements to support the Jordan's Principle approved submissions with the VNFC Jordan's Principle Service Coordinators.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team that is dedicated to making a difference in the community.

DUTIES:
_include the following but are not limited to the job specifications contained herein. Additional duties or job functions that can be performed safely may be required as deemed necessary by supervisory personnel._

  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Maintain positive and respectful relations with the Jordan Principle team, children, youth and families they serve
  • Collaborate with the Jordan's Principle Service Coordinators to ensure the children served receive the products, services and supports they require when they need them
  • Facilitate the payments process for approved Jordans' Principle submissions of the VNFC
  • Implement the Indigenous Services Canada funding in accordance with the Program delivery requirements
  • Maintain and produce invoices/receipts/purchase orders and documents to Indigenous Services Canada upon request
  • Maintain and update all required reporting and tracking as required
  • Attend to urgent payment requests as needed
  • Verify vendor accounts by reconciling statements, researching and correcting any discrepancies
  • Maintain and facilitate positive and respectful relations with vendors, service providers and stakeholders
  • Maintain all files and documentation required for the Finance systems of the VNFC
  • Review and prepare breakdowns for credit card processes including reconciliation of accounts
  • Use Telpay and processing of electronic payments
  • Prepare batches and complete data entry including coding and scanning
  • Ensure compliance to VNFC policies and procedures

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Awareness of Indigenous cultures and issues affecting First Nations, Metis and Inuit Peoples
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Bookkeeping and Accounting principles and practices
  • Knowledge of Jordan's Principle funding
  • Filing systems creation and maintenance
  • Must be able to work independently and be reliable and selfmotivated as well as working effectively in a team
  • Must maintain professional standards and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders
  • Due to physical requirements of the work, the incumbent must spend a major portion of the work day standing, walking, and/or sitting as well as possible bending and stretching.
  • Experience in bookkeeping, accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Proficient in Office 36
  • Ability to translate financial concepts to and effectively collaborate with colleagues, community and external stakeholders who do not necessarily have finance backgrounds.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
