Essential Responsibilities, Accountabilities
& Results

  • Implements and supports the implementation of change in the organization whether that be reorganization, new policies, changed policies and or practices
    Behaviors change as a result of the support by the HR Advisor:
  • Implements recruiting plans, negotiates with hiring managers and effectively onboards great talent for the organization;
    Educates & Empowers managers to make quality hiring decisions:
  • Implements and guides the organization on performance management planning and development.
Supports managers on coaching and counselling for performance improvement and hi-potential development -
Creates a high performance culture where employees understand the link between performance and rewards:

  • Coaches employees, managers and leaders on employee relations issues while reinforcing the organizations' goals and values and mitigating future risk
    Creates an environment of safety, trust and honesty in the workplace:
  • Participates in 9 Box Talent Review exercises, talent coaching, preparation for talent reviews and development planning

  • Succession plans exist for key influential roles and top talent is retained and promoted appropriately:
  • Supports the implementation and communication of company Total Rewards and Benefit programs, communicating compensation ranges and expectations with consistency to both leaders and employees
    Employees understand the programs and rewards that are offered within the organization:
  • Guides leaders on their individual/departmental/team or BU engagement results and supports them on building key strategies

  • Delivers an engaged workforce:
  • Maintains HRIS system (UltiPro) for employee records, running reports when required for business supports and insight
  • Adheres to Federal and provincial employment law, keeping abreast of changes as they transpire in a changing global climate

Competency Requirements

  • Project management, interviewing, networking, coaching, negotiating and relationship building skills
  • Process improvement, strategic planning, problem solving, emotional intelligence and bigpicture thinking
  • Critical to the role is the ability to communicate effectively at an individual level and amongst small groups, irrespective of position or tenure
  • Functional and Technical understanding of employment laws, HR best practice and labor relations
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, follow instructions and possess an attention to detail and ability to work accurately and independently
  • Advanced expertise in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and possess ability to navigate and adapt to using other webbased systems as necessary
  • Possess a positive, collaborative attitude and establish good working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • High sense of urgency in providing strong and creative level of service and followthrough
  • Flexibility to take on ad hoc duties and additional responsibilities as requested

Educational & Experience Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 4 to 6 years of experience in Human Resources or equivalent work experience
  • CHRL, CHRP or CPHR certification preferred

Physical Requirements


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
