Director and Group Lead, Commercial Distribution - London, Ontario

The Director and Group Lead, Commercial Distribution is in charge of overseeing a mid-market (and/or core) team that plays a key role in the success of the Commercial Bank. This involves meeting financial goals focused on the growth and retention of the team's portfolio of Commercial clients, understanding market trends, and leading a strategy to strengthen relationships by working with internal partners to provide comprehensive solutions for our clients.

This position is responsible for the Mid-Market (and/or Core segments) and supervises activities of varying complexity levels, based on the segments.

We are seeking a sales leader who can steer and expand the business, and someone with the ability to invest in the development of people.

Is this the right role for you?

  • Do you possess exceptional skills in sales management, building relationships, and leadership, with the capacity to influence and inspire others?
  • Do you thrive in situations where you can lead by example, drive positive change, and motivate others to do the same?
  • Would you describe yourself as having extensive knowledge of Canada's financial services industry, the key industries in the market area, major clients, and competitive positioning within the market?
  • Do you have strong skills in tactical planning, implementation, and management?
  • Have you gained experience in a role that requires a high level of independent judgment and discretion concerning sales management activities and adhering to approved budgets, authorities, and Bank policies?

Do you possess the necessary skills to thrive in this role? - We are excited to collaborate with you if:

  • You are highly experienced in commercial banking.
  • You have demonstrated strong skills in leadership, sales management, coaching, and relationship building, as well as excellent sales abilities.
  • You are an expert in credit skills, with a good understanding of financial analysis, risk assessment techniques, credit approval, and the Bank's lending policies.
  • You hold a minimum post-secondary diploma/degree, preferably in Business or Economics, or equivalent work experience.
  • You can develop and execute strategic plans for the team, understanding market trends, business growth, building networks, and increasing market share.
  • You can support and guide the Associate Group Lead in upholding solid credit practices consistent with industry standards and internal procedures.
  • This role requires strong organizational skills to manage the demands of a fast-paced environment, where priorities may shift throughout the day, often with immediate issues or opportunities that need to be addressed.

What's in it for you?

  • You will report to the Vice President and Head of Commercial Banking and lead a team.
  • You will oversee Senior Client Relationship Managers (SCRMs), Client Relationship Managers (CRMs), and the Associate Group Lead.
  • You will indirectly manage Client Service Specialists (CSS) and Credit Analysts (CA).
  • You will have the chance to create a top-tier team and make a meaningful impact.
  • You will work in an innovative and forward-thinking organization with a collaborative team.
  • You will collaborate closely with the Associate Group Lead to manage various responsibilities.

Working Conditions:

  • This role is based in a standard office setting.
  • Frequent travel is necessary, and owning a vehicle is essential.

Frequent interruptions, spontaneous requests, unforeseen operational issues, and constantly changing priorities contribute to the high demands of this role.

  • Non-standard working hours are common.
