The camp is located on the shores of beautiful Lac de L'achigan in Saint-Hippolyte. We are an English summer camp that welcomes about 100 young people from 6 to 17 years old. The majority of our campers are followed in youth protection.

Camp Weredale offers these young people a safe and beautiful environment in which they can be close to nature, create lifelong friendships, and hopefully begin to heal.


Responsible to:

Camp Director and Executive Director General

Provide campers and staff with balanced 'home-cooked' meals throughout each camping session.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Take responsibility for opening and setting up the kitchen for the summer season (early June) and closing the kitchen after the campers and counsellors leave.
  • Cook for a small group of counsellors between June 14 and 21 (varies between 10 and 40 staff).
  • Follow a dieticianapproved menu established at camp over 12 days to feed campers and staff.
  • May make some changes to the menu and the order of meals depending on the specials of the week.
  • Contact suppliers to establish prices for the summer season.
  • Responsible for food purchases with suppliers.
  • Responsible for the food budget and cleaning products.
  • At the beginning of the day, establish priorities with the kitchen team for the tasks to be done for the day.
  • Responsible for the preparation of meals and snacks.
  • Supervise the kitchen helpers, dishwashers, and cafeteria staff.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and smooth running of the kitchen

Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • English/French spoken
  • Training in cooking and having at least a secondary
  • Experience in the kitchen serving large groups
  • Required qualities: disciplined, mature, initiative, respectful, punctual, jovial, loves children, flexible, and available according to the camp schedule.
  • Respect the dress code, rules, and sanitary regulations of the camp.
  • Mapaq Certification

More information:

  • Access to the lake and equipment on site in the moments of poses
  • Lodging during the contract period
  • Telephone allowance: maximum $50/month with cell phone bill for use at camp for contact with suppliers (June, July, August)

Petty Cash:

A petty cash advance will be provided for one-time kitchen expenses. A petty cash expense report must be submitted each month with invoices in chronological order. Telephone bills may be added to the petty cash report.

Personal Conduct:

We are a summer camp, accredited by the Association des camps du Québec (ACQ).

  • A criminal investigation of all employees must be done.
  • A camp code of ethics and a kitchen code must also be followed.

Employment Status:

Summer, full-time, day, evening, weekend. Transportation, lodging, and food are included at Camp Weredale during the stay.
