Our reputable and engaging client in the property management sector is in search of a Property Accountant for a permanent position in their Halifax office. Working closely with the Controller and other accounting staff, you will play a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of a diverse real estate portfolio. You'll work closely with property managers, tenants, and external stakeholders to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities for the Job:
- Full monthly financial statements
- Statement preparation and balancing
- Journal entries
- Amortization and accruals
- General ledger maintenance
- Bank reconciliations
- Monthly reporting for multiple entities
- Variance Analysis
- Year-end audit preparation
- Other intermediate level accounting duties or special projects as required
- Post-secondary education in business or accounting
- Minimum 3-5+ years experience in a full cycle accounting position, ideally in a property management environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Yardi software
- Excellent interpersonal skills and team orientation
- Above average attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proven success in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
- Team orientation and personable, positive approach
- Experience performing property accounting is an asset
