Eligible participants must be:

between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;

The Opportunity:

We are recruiting for a Special Events and Communication Coordinator

- This is a contract full-time position (35 hour per week Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm with some flexibility to meet needs) until end of August based at 737 Woolwich St. Guelph

Reporting to the Communications Lead at CMHA Waterloo Wellington the Special Events and Communication Coordinator will support the planning, organizing, and coordinating of communication and special events. The Coordinator supports communication between the clients, vendors, and donors, as well as the coordination and creation of social media marketing using Canva for Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and website content. The Coordinator will assist with the development of a website geared towards peer and community education. Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) are important aspects of this position. The Coordinator will maintain records on event activities, including, progress, status, and post event summary. Attending events to support activities and ensure activities happen as planned is part of this position.

Qualifications:

Undergraduate degree/diploma, or working towards diploma or degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or Special Event Planning
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
Organizational skills and the ability to adapt to competing and changing priorities
Proficiency with MS Office, Outlook,
Proficiency with digital technology and tools, including WordPress and Canva to create, manage and share information and content
Event organization and implementation an asset
Problem-solving ability to identify problems, prioritize issues, and generate possible solutions
A valid driver's license and own transportation, as travel is required

RATE OF PAY: $18.00 per hour
