Duties and Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the Manager, Outreach and Engagement, and working closely with the Prospective Student Engagement Coordinator, the Prospective Student Engagement Administrator provides support for promotion and engagement activities representing the four departments and three schools of the Faculty of Engineering and Design (FED). These activities are intended to reach a diverse group of prospective students and influencers and enhance the standing and reputation of the FED. The engagement team works closely with other members of the Office of the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Design (ODFED) and faculty members, including department chairs and school directors. Engagement activities are both in-person and online and offered in the National Capital Region, across Ontario, nationally and internationally (online only).

Primary goals for prospective student engagement:
1. Engages with a broad audience of prospective students and influencers to increase awareness and promote the FED programs and Carleton University.
2. Aligns engagement activities with FED objectives, such as advancing EDI and program specific targets.
3. Represents the faculty to maintain and enhance its reputation and standing.
4. Stays informed of emerging trends and best practices in student engagement, recruitment and conversion.
5. Provides employment opportunities for Carleton University students and alumni.

The Prospective Student Engagement Administrator plays a key role in the engagement team, supporting program administration and operations. The Administrator, along with Representatives and Student Ambassadors, is a key member of the delivery team, leading a variety of activities with different audiences on a weekly basis.

Qualifications:

The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:
• Is knowledgeable about the Ontario university educational system, admissions criteria, and university programs;
• Has previous experience interacting with secondary school-aged students, guidance/educational counsellors, and teachers;
• Has excellent public speaking and presentation skills;
• Has effective interpersonal and public relations skills, and deals courteously and effectively with people, while exercising tact and diplomacy;
• Is knowledgeable about the Carleton University FED culture and institutional goals and objectives;
• Possesses the ability to work simultaneously on numerous and diverse projects;
• Travels in and around Ottawa and the GTA as required. The incumbent regularly has off-campus meetings and events, which include some that are scheduled on evenings and weekends. Occasionally travels outside Ontario;
• Works well under pressure, including prioritizing workload, meeting deadlines, and adapting quickly to changing priorities;
• Possesses a valid G-level driver's license (or equivalent full license);
• Works well in a team environment;
• Can safely lift and move 30 lbs;
• Has experience with Zoom, MS Teams, Google Meet, and SharePoint;
• Has experience using and posting on social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Discord); and,
• Is proficient in the use of MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint;

Education and Experience:

The above is normally acquired through the completion of:
• University honours degree, preferably in Engineering, Information Technology, Architecture or Industrial Design. Preference given to a Carleton undergraduate degree.
• One year of progressively responsible experience in engagement and outreach at a post-secondary institution.
