Duties and Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Executive Assistant to the Vice-President, the position is responsible to implement and evaluate the strategic digital communications, public relations, marketing, social media, and technical writing needs of the Office of the Vice-President (Research an International).

Qualifications:

The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:
• Superior planning skills; understands critical path, sets priorities and meets timelines.
• Superior ability to multi-task.
• Superior organizational and administrative skills (accurate, detailed and complete).
• Excellent interpersonal skills; works well with individuals at all levels within an organization.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; includes strong writing, editing and proofreading skills and superior attention to detail and the ability to be compelling/convincing in discussions.
• Excellent skills in use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint Outlook, the Adobe Creative suite as well as construction of online registration systems.
• Strong professionalism, tact and diplomacy; able to remain calm and with a professional demeanor under pressure.
• Strong customer service ethic and high expectation for quality.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Creative thinker for outreach; think "outside the box" - wanting improvement year over year.
• Self-motivated.
• Able to work both independently and within a team environment.
• Understands financials concepts, maintains financial records and tracks expenses to budget.
• International Experience and cross-cultural expertise.
• Awareness of diplomatic protocol

Education and Experience:

The above is normally acquired through the completion of:
• Honors undergraduate university degree in Communications, Journalism or English or related degree.
• Minimum of four years' of experience in communication type activities including written content, social media, web content, presentations and reports for an external audience, preferably in an academic or not-for-profit organization.
• Experience within and supporting the international or multi-cultural community is an asset.
