Fort Garry Industries has an exciting opportunity for an Administrative Collections Specialist to join our team at our corporate head office.

This role provides administrative support to our accounts receivable department and works closely with our branches and customers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process and reconcile incoming payments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Action new account applications by requesting credit reports and payment history.
  • Action new Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) set up.
  • Prepare and distribute special reporting for select accounts.
  • Enter accounts receivable data into Excel and maintain accuracy of information.
  • Use effective collection strategies to minimize overdue accounts and reduce delinquency rates.
  • Contact customers with overdue balances to arrange payment and resolve outstanding issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of collection efforts and customer communications in the accounts receivable system.
  • Providing timely and accurate information to branch and corporate management for effective management of credit risk.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • High school diploma or other high school equivalence certificate.
  • 1 year of accounts receivable experience preferred.
  • 6 months of collections experience as an asset.
  • Excellent Customer Service skills – dedicated to exceeding expectations of internal and external customers primarily over the phone.
  • Strong written and verbal skills – ability to write and speak succinctly with customers and colleagues.
  • Basic to proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (email, word, excel) and ability to learn in-house systems.
  • Capable of meeting multiple daily deadlines accurately
  • Heavy duty parts knowledge or background an asset.
