Fuel Transport is expanding rapidly and is looking for a Legal Counsel for our office located in LaSalle . Reporting into the Director of Legal Affairs, the selected candidate will seek and research legal information, negotiate contracts, draft opinions and work closely with various departments of the company.

Provide support on a wide range of issues including but not limited to transportation, employment, privacy, regulatory compliance, under provincial or federal jurisdiction, as applicable.
Draft a diverse set of commercial contracts for the company and its related companies and coordinate contract execution.
Review documents, including contracts, received from clients or vendors and coordinate contract execution.
Provide advice in contract interpretation to manage existing relationships.
Work closely with the claims department in the management of the files.
Assist in identifying, evaluating and assessing legal issues and risks regarding the company’s business activities and initiatives.
Participate in new business opportunities and onboarding calls following receipt of request for proposals (RFP) on a bi-weekly basis.
Liaise with external counsels in the managements of litigation cases.
Any other tasks assigned by the Director of Legal Affairs.

University degree in law degree completed.
Insurance and\or transport industry experience will be considered an asset.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both French and English. The requirement of another language is required for this position as the candidate will be required to interact and communicate with clients, suppliers and colleagues throughout North America.

This position may be adapted to candidates with relevant education and work experience but who do not hold a license from the Barreau du Québec.
