We are looking for a Director, Underwriting join our team in our Vancouver office
As the Director of Underwriting, you will work closely with the Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) to manage underwriting operations, lead the Delegated Underwriting Authority (DUA) renewal process, assist in the creation of new insurance products, and ensure full compliance with underwriting activities.
Drive training initiatives for new hires and junior underwriters to ensure they are well-equipped for success.
Create and maintain comprehensive underwriting training manuals for the organization.
Manage the Internal Peer Review Practice, providing quarterly summaries and recommendations to the CUO and regional leaders.
Ensure the review and implementation of policy wordings in line with regulatory requirements and best practices.
Collaborate with the CUO on developing new capacity and products to address emerging market opportunities.
Support marketing and relationship-building efforts with insurers, collaborating with the CUO.
Represent the company at industry association meetings and events, contributing to strategic partnerships and strengthening market presence.
Minimum of 10 years of technical experience in Property & Casualty (P&C) underwriting, with a strong background in compliance management and underwriting operations.
Expertise in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience with business plan creation and development.
Must be able to travel domestically and internationally as needed to support marketing efforts and industry relationships.
Bilingualism is an asset, but not required.
